"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." Indeed! This quote by Jim Rohn is a question and an answer in itself. It tells so much about us. We all have a limited period of time on this planet. In this brief amount of time, we want to achieve almost everything. We work hard towards our goals. We stress our minds to fulfill our dreams. We take challenges to make our (/and our loved ones) life easier. Sometimes we fail and even get bogged down with fear. But we always try to fight back, to defeat our nightmares. In this whole process, the only permanent, yet, a temporary thing that stays with us, is our body. A functional body and clear mindset not only gives us strength but also helps us to overcome any situation.
Last few months, a lot of people had been questioning my healthy choices. Whether it's my food habits, or, my exercise regime, I'd been asked about my daily routines. While some questions wore highly critique, other showed sheer eagerness, and a few, just mere curiosity. But, one thing was sure, they all have started acknowledging it. It felt like more and more people are getting inclined towards a healthy lifestyle. I was astound and happy, while sharing my over-the-years gained knowledge. Whether it was about the macros details, or, any fitness tips, I was willingly answering each queries. It made me remember the time, when, I'd started (possibly in some another blog 😉). But something was wrong. See, most of them were only conscious about how they look instead of how they feel. For most of them, their only concern was their belly fat. Their only motto was to look thin, and they didn't even want to put an extra effort. Some even desired to get quick results. Though, this thinking may be momentarily fine, but, this shouldn't be our way of life.
"A healthy body is antifragile, whereas a calm mind is well defined and, a sync of both, is the way of life."
Our body needs a lot of love and care to function properly. It demands sheer respect. Whether it's our mind, or our heart, every organ needs, proper supervision. The food we eat and things we do has direct impact on our health. Taking it for granted is the most idiotic thing we can do. It is such an invaluable asset that, nobody wants to loose. But, then, what are we doing to keep it useful? What are our daily measures to keep it working?
"Lost time can never be regained."
It is well said, it's never too late, to begin. But, with our body, every moment delayed makes it too hard to start. As we age, our body tends to loose it's potential. Every muscle fiber starts to degrade. Things, which would seem easy, becomes hard to perform. Our recovery strength starts to slows down, and our immune system weakens. Everything becomes out of our reach. But, all this can be postponed. If we start today and work on our health. We've been gifted by this beautiful body, which can do wonders. So, why not use it's full potential? Why not explore it's capabilities? Why wait? Because time will not. So, before it's too late, take in-charge. Listen to your body and heal your mind. Work on your health and give it time. Trust me it will worth every sacrifice.
Few words of Wisdom :
Eat Healthy : The most important and well known truth. Listen to your body and, don't be a fool of your tongue. Treat your taste-buds, but don't be a sinner of gluttony. Our body needs clean fuel to function properly. Don't try to put petrol in your diesel vehicle just because it smells good. Ask yourself one question, what would you choose between clean air and polluted one? I would definitely choose the former one. I don't want to choke with polluted air when I'd the option to breathe freely. Same thing happens with our body when we continuously feed non-nutritional food. In long term it cannot survive on that, it will eventually fail, and when this happens, it would be too late. Eventually, you would be forced to swallow tasteless food. So, before it happens, take in-charge and work on your diet, a well-balanced diet.
Stay Active : You don't always need to join a gym to be physically fit. You can indulge yourself in any physical activity. It can be playing a sport, running or cycling. As long as the muscles are being used and fats are burning, you are totally fine. Exercise not only can make your skin and body look good, but it can also trigger your good emotional thoughts. As per various studies, when we exercise, our body releases different hormones like dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. While dopamine make us feel good, serotonin boosts our mood and help improve our appetite and sleep pattern. (Norepinephrine is similar to adrenaline.)
Heal your Mind : "Our mind is the anchor to our body. Without a stable anchor, we could end up stuck on a island of nothingness." Take a moment. Calm and relax your mind. Meditate the first thing in the morning. It will not only help you to focus but will also prepare you for your whole day.
Lastly, I would like to request everyone to take some time for your health. It's not that difficult, we just need to know it's importance. You may have all the desired things with you, but only with a healthy body, you can truly enjoy it.
P.S. Everyone is well aware of the current situation. In this crucial time, we cannot loose our morale. Try to keep it together, nothing is permanent and this phase too will pass into the pages of our history.
And, for those who have always complained of not getting enough time to exercise, now is the time. There are thousands of free home workout videos easily available in the web. Work on yourself and be a better you.
Happy Exercising...
